Julia DeNey, founder of Sense-ational You
Julia is a Cornell-trained fashion designer where she conducted an independent study into adaptive apparel for people with disabilities. She went on to work as a special-education paraprofessional in autism classrooms during the pandemic. She witnessed how unmet sensory needs, and uncomfortable clothing in particular, could impact behavior, learning, and confidence.
Determined to make fashion part of the solution, Julia combined her design expertise with real-world insight to launch Sense-ational You. Each piece is crafted with soft fabrics, tag-free labels, flat seams, hidden compression, stitched-down pockets, sound-reducing hoods, and built-in fidgets—thoughtful details that help neurodiverse children and adults feel comfortable, confident, and included in everyday life.
